Internet free speech is under assault in America, and a dangerous new trend has surfaced that threatens to throw nutritional bloggers in jail for advocating healthy diets on their blogs or websites.
As you read this, a blogger who wrote about using the Paleo diet to overcome diabetes is being threatened with jail time in North Carolina, where the state Board of Dietetics / Nutrition claims his nutritional advocacy is equivalent to the crime of "practicing nutrition without a license."
So disturbing what NC is trying to establish.
I stand in solidarity and cheer for everyone who speaks out in favour of eating and being healthy. I also stand in support of exposing the lies that Big Pharma and Mega-multinationals spread to instill fear and garner control. Our Right to Freedom of Speech is not just there to speak about the weather, but often for controversial topics.

This case seems to be solved: http://www.ncbdn.org/file_a_complaint/recent_press_inquiry/
Of course, the larger issue will not go away overnight, but one day at a time is how we live :-)
Of course, I’m currently unable to access Diabetes warrior website… too busy with all the attention? Or something more sinister…?
Good to hear.
One day at a time is all we can do. ;0)

Oh noes!
…just checked and was able to access the page. =0)
VW,
That sucks ass. I’m curious to read if we’re talking about diabetes type I or type II, so I’ll hop over to the post.

Diabetes is a diet-related condition, so I hope you find some answers. It is discussed in the docs “Forks Over Knives”, “Foodmatters”, and “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. There are many people who manage their condition with an improved diet (plant-based) and no drugs. There’s a lot of fear involved when doctors (especially psychs) start calling the shots about our health, and fear absolutely breeds dependency.
Live well and feel better, my friend.

VW,
I don’t know on this one… And you know where I lean, I’m with you on most. The Whispering Petunia is diabetes type 1 – her pancreas has stopped creating insulin. As much as she could eat healthy, it was extremely difficult to control the sugar spikes anyway, even if she would avoid sugar, carbs, etc… Also, other factors like stress and exercise made it almost impossible to live without insulin injections, or sugar intakes during hypoglycemia.

LC,
I hear you. It’s really important to keep the medication routine going, but seek alternate medical information (Naturopath, Orthomolecular Medical advice) for further information and support (especially if you’re interested in correcting the condition, as opposed to living with it). There is a lot of misinformation spread to maintain the status quo, because there is no money in being healthy. Conventional doctors are simply not trained in Nutrition, and often still recommend “calorie counting” as a way to lose weight. That’s what makes companies like Weight Watchers so financially successful, but lacks in long-term success for the people paying for the service… that’s a totally separate blog post, though.
Hugs, care, concern, and comfort to you and yours.

So glad that you reblogged this, Veggiewitch! You know what’s even scarier? That I LIVE in this state! There is also an AWFUL amendment up for the vote on May 8 that basically makes it hard to have any legal rights in any form of relationship outside of marriage. It’s scary, but good to be aware of! Thanks for the update!
Oh Rachel! That really is super-scary! *squishy hugs*
I hope that proposed amendment is squashed down! Have the legal “brainiacs” who constructed that bit of tripe to punish same-sex couples considered the implications and connotations to dead-beat dad legislation if it survives? Oh man!
