The Incredible Disappearing Smoothie!

Our Smoothie tonight didn’t last long enough to get a decent picture of it. I had to be fast! To be honest, I’m kind of surprised how well my Elflings are liking my supper-time smoothie concoctions. Tonight it was this:

Kapow Smoothie
1/2 C washed blueberries*
1 over-full soup-spoon of soy yogurt* (we had strawberry)
1 heaping scoop of my Kapowder*
1/2 C strawberry soy milk*
1/2 C frozen raspberries*
2 C veggie juice* (12 carrots*, tiny knob of ginger*, 2 apples*)
* = Organic
:: Whiz it all up and down the hatch.

We’ve been having smoothies for coming on 5 years solid, with little variance. I started to buy a “protein replacement” powder by a vegan tri-athlete which was very good. We really liked it, but it was $60 a pop, once a month. We do have a couple of wonderful Elflings and we’re living on a budget, so we figured that some of that cash could go to adding more fruit and veg instead. It’s a juggle, and we’re being creative. We tried other options with decent success, but some of them had a funny way of sitting/sprawling on the palate. Trying to get Elflings to drink something that “lingered” was a bit of a challenge, to say the least. They balked. They whined. They flat out refused. C’est la vie!

I decided to make my own. Yay me! Now we have a bucket full of a super-awesome “boost” Kapowder in our fridge that was very affordable and easy to make.
