I could totally have had my very own Green Onion Garden. *gurgles* Thank Kroms! I definitely learned something today! *happy dancing* ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Adventures of Thrive Farm

The next time you have green onions, don’t throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely. We just use kitchen scissors to cut what we need for meals and periodically empty out the water, rinse the roots off and give them fresh water.

This reminds me of my chef-husband. He’s always growing/re-growing things in our flat. It’s like one continuous science fair experiment around here.

I use green onions almost every day. I’m so glad I found this little tip. Haven’t tried it yet, but will begin today. The link says they “begin almost immediately, and grow almost indefinitely “, so we’ll see. ♥

I do a similar thing with every avocado seed I recieve, luckily the neighbours have three flowering trees, so the odds are in my favour for sprouting them. If, not it means they get replace with seeds I am still growing or have not yet planted over the years. This doesn’t mean they get chopped down… They get moved to the common gardens as a donation.
