Holiday Cookies ♥

Holiday Cookies

My Elflings and I made a bunch of sugar cookies today in mitten and snowflake shapes. We kept the colours simple, and stayed with white and blue. It was great! ♥

Holiday Cookies

I used my favourite Awesome Sugar Cookies recipe and iced them with the same Icing recipe from the Mosaicake. ♥

I Heart You!

Dough Heart

I heart you, Veggiewitch Blog and Veggiewitch Blog Readers! You are always on my mind, but especially when I’m crafting and creating. In fact, this dough looked precisely this way when I rolled it out of my prep bowl. See? There is no such thing as coincidence. I heart you! ♥

Awesome Sugar Cookies – Recipe

Awesome Sugar Cookies

This is my all-time favourite sugar cookie recipe. It’s been my go-to if I ever needed a seasonal, shaped cookie for icing/decorating, and my Elflings love them. The original recipe called for sour cream, but my substitution of coconut cream worked perfectly! *happy dancing*

Awesome Sugar Cookies
3¼ C flour*
1 t baking soda
½ t salt
½ C coconut* oil (unrefined)
1 C cane sugar*
1 egg (or replacer)
½ t vanilla*
½ C coconut cream (or sour cream)
* = Organic

Preheat oven to 350°F/176°C/Gas Mark 4. Combine coconut oil, sugar, egg or substitute, vanilla, and coconut cream. Blend it all until smooth. Add the dry ingredients, and combine. Use a dough hook attachment to knead the dough, or knead on a floured surface for a few minutes. In small batches, roll the dough out to ¼” thickness, and cut to your favourite shapes. Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool completely before icing. Makes approximately 3 dozen cookies. Enjoy!

Samhain/Halloween Cookies

We had so much fun yesterday! It’s been really cold, and we’d decided to forgo trick or treating based on the weather, and the fact that the treats they’d get would neither be vegan nor organic. Because of the cold, it was a great opportunity to turn on the oven and bake our little, black hearts out. ♥

My favourite sugar cookie recipe calls for sour cream, so I tweaked it with a substitution of coconut cream instead (thank goodness, it worked!), and we made a bunch of Samhain/Halloween shapes.

Here are a bunch just going into the oven.Yummy! They smelled so good. ♥

A few little scraps leftover.

I was so sick of making cookies by the end of it, but each one was worth it. ♥

Creativity rules when we decorated them in classic colours: white, black, orange, green and purple. Cookies FTW!
