Blue Morpho Butterfly

Blue Morpho Butterfly

When I lived in Brazil, I saw a shop that carried plaques depicting people in various aspects of life. It wasn’t until I looked closer that I noticed there were wings of the blue morpho butterfly incorporated into each scene. I was only 14 at the time, but that sudden realization left me feeling sick to my stomach. I couldn’t understand how such beautiful lives could wantonly be sacrificed for cheap, tacky excuses for art. As much as I said I wouldn’t do it, I’m thinking my next tattoo will be a butterfly after all, a blue morpho, Ok, maybe not the “next” tattoo I get, but I’ll find a spot suitable for one. ;0)

My T.A.R.D.I.S.

My T.A.R.D.I.S.

I’m so far behind on my blog… Oy vey!

Just last month, on August, 27, I got my left forearm inked with an image of the T.A.R.D.I.S. (time and relative dimension in space), from Doctor Who. I was never much into the series when I was a kid, but the latest re-tooling of the Doctor has myself and my Elflings hooked. Between the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), the 10th Doctor (David Tennant), and the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith), our favourite here is David Tennant. If you get a chance, watch the version of Hamlet by the Royal Shakespeare Company, it’s wonderful!

Knitting – Mama Vertebrae Cardigan

Mama Vertebrae Cardigan in Yoda

I’ve been knitting a Mama Vertebrae Cardigan (link goes to the pattern on Ravelry), and I’m really liking how it’s turning out. The colorway was hand-dyed by the awesome artisan behind Mosaic Moon, and is called “Yoda,” from a photo that had been submitted as inspiration. This cardigan is intended to be for a gift, but I know I’m going to have trouble parting with it. :0/

I love the cuff! Seed-stitch is one of my favourite ways to finish a garment, and the pattern shows off the colours so nicely.

Here’s my little cake of “Yoda” yarn.

Here is the inspiration photo for the colorway. ;0)

Day 19 ~ What I Collect

WhatICollect

Day 18 ~ What I collect:

I collect a few things, but I have a rather large collection (ok, it’s actually a horde) of wool from when I was knitting soakers for babies, sweaters, seasonal clothing, and commissions for friends, family, and customers. I love to knit for friends, family, and customers. Here are two things I have on the needles now:

All Hallows and Yoda WIPs

I’m also in the process of indulging a new obsession of collecting tattoos! Like this one, my LOTR-based script, “Not all those who wander lost,” tattoo.

My LOTR Tattoo

The cutest tattoo I will likely ever have, Baby Cthulhu.

Watch out for the Beast of Caerbannog!

And my most beautiful tattoo, Elsa Lanchester, as The Bride of Frankenstein.
